One of the things I love the most of teaching Entrepreneurship in Water Sports & Tourism. As part of the program I’m currently running, this story obviously cannot miss out. It feels like the basis of all the knowledge I’ve gathered around these topics.
Last night (I’m mainly teaching evening hours, here in Figueira da Foz, Portugal) I shared the story of SurfaWhile, the company I co-founded with Hans van Mourik and ran for 8 years.
To tell the story (even after about 3500 times) gives me so much joy. It makes me re-live the entire experience, something I will cherish for the rest of my life. The joy, the lessons, the laughter and bad jokes (from my side) and all the contacts we’ve had (among many other things) I will never forget.
I did this story whilst wearing the new clothing line (t-shirt and cap), featuring the new branding of the company. And it’s fascinating to see that this has enabled the company to offer their own (amazing) products through a webshop, also becoming part of the value proposition.
The story of SurfaWhile I shared whilst asking the students 5 questions along the way. As much as possible I try to have them think and reason from the perspective of Problem Solving, which led to truly interesting conversations.
Later this week I will have a very exciting activity planned, where this topic certainly will come back and I’m looking forward to sharing about it.
